Feilden+Mawson assisted R G Carter to deliver the new University Arms Hotel. The building which was originally extended by Feilden+Mawson in the 1960’s was due a significant overhaul involving demolishing up to two thirds of the existing building, replaced with a traditional design providing the new hotel with 196 rooms.
The scheme was designed and developed with Revit which helped coordinate some of the complex structural forms required to create some of the ornate facades and roofscapes. The design also utilises internal courtyard providing natural light to the heart of the building. The completed building adds significantly to the setting of Parker’s Piece and provides central Cambridge with a prestigious hub for tourists and visitors.
