Feilden+Mawson were one of six leading architects invited to participate in the competition for the renovation and development of St Andrews Hall, a Grade I listed complex of late medieval buildings owned and managed by Norwich City Council.
The design creates a lively new main entrance of articulated plains to the halls, bringing life and activity to the dead space of the existing yard. It is proposed to insert a new balcony with the aisles incorporating moveable viewing boxes in the main hall, which can be retracted when there is no performance, thus maintaining the clarity of the original architecture.
