Feilden+Mawson won the scheme in competition with other major international architecture firms, to design a new bio research campus.
The project involved developing a masterplan for Beijing’s National Institute of Fundamental Sciences, consisting of a number of research and administration buildings on an 8.9 hectare green field site. The completed development amounts to 45,000m² area of building, with the first phase of the development consisting of 26,000m². A 300-seat auditorium and 2800m² administration building form the nexus of the campus site.
