Feilden+Mawson was commissioned by McCarthy & Stone to develop a scheme utilising their Residential Living Plus (RL+) model on a brownfield site in Beccles.
This back-land site, a former ironworks, was overgrown and derelict for a number of years. The scheme demolished a remnant warehouse to make way for a 4-storey residential living plus apartment block and 25 complementary bungalows, which together, make up an attractive closed-community for the over 70’s and over 55’s respectively. The RL+ block comprises 55 1 bed and 2 bed extra care apartments, communal spaces, including homeowner’s lounge, restaurant (serving meals 365 days a year), café area, landscaped communal gardens, shared facilities, guest suite, and mobility scooter storage.
