Feilden+Mawson provided Stage 4 technical services for Hill Partnerships as part of the Cambridge Investment Partnership’s redevelopment of Colville Road. The project replaced outdated housing with modern, energy-efficient council homes, designed to meet local needs while achieving high sustainability standards.
The two-phase development delivered 115 new homes, including a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- and three-bedroom houses. Several units were designed for wheelchair accessibility, ensuring inclusive living spaces. Phase 3 also introduced commercial units at ground level, supporting a mixed-use urban environment.
A strong focus on sustainability informed the design, with energy-efficient features including a gas-free heating strategy using communal Air Source Heat Pumps, photovoltaic panels, and solar thermal technology. Enhanced insulation, triple glazing, and airtight construction improved energy performance, while green roofs and sustainable drainage systems contributed to biodiversity and climate resilience. Cycle storage and electric vehicle charging further supported sustainable transport solutions.
The Colville Road redevelopment exemplifies Feilden+Mawson’s expertise in delivering high-quality, affordable housing that integrates sustainability and modern living.
