Feilden+Mawson were appointed to carry out the design and delivery of a number of refurbishment and reconfiguration works, with an aim to increase productivity and improve the student experience on campus.
Following a fire to one of the Halls of Residences, upgrades were necessary to improve the fire strategy and safety on site, as well as improvements to the layout, enabling them to offer a better rental experience. Improvements included refurbishing the bedrooms and kitchens, as well upgrades to the bathrooms. The work on one was then used as the premise for improvements to be implemented on others within the campus.
The College of Engineering, Design & Physical Sciences at Brunel University were also looking to install a gas powered gun to undertake research relevant to the aerospace development. Feilden+Mawson produced a feasibility report identifying the locations within the existing engineering department that could be appropriate.
Finally, we were appointed to design and deliver the refurbishment and re-configuration of the existing student support office facility, addressing layout issues which were affecting productivity and enabled the university ambition of flexible desking arrangements and break-out space.
