Feilden+Mawson were appointed to design a new home for the Royal Norwich Golf Club at Weston Longville, creating a state-of-the-art facility that balances tradition with modernity. The project included a new clubhouse, redesigned entrance, expanded parking, a greenkeepers’ facility, a driving range, and a starter’s hut—delivering a future-ready golfing destination.
At the heart of the development, the clubhouse integrates the site’s original stable block with a striking contemporary extension. It houses modern changing rooms, a Pro Shop, offices, and dining facilities for up to 200 guests, all overlooking the 18th green. The design preserves the club’s identity while fostering inclusivity, particularly encouraging female and junior participation.
The entrance lodge was sensitively refurbished, featuring restored historic gates and new signage. The clubhouse’s layout ensures seamless circulation, supporting both golfing functions and vibrant social interactions. A new light-filled extension introduces an open-plan kitchen, flexible dining, and a terrace with panoramic course views. The historic elements of the original structure create intimate member spaces, blending past and present.
The new greenkeepers’ building is discreetly nestled in woodland, ensuring minimal visual impact. A refurbished bungalow now serves as the starter’s pavilion and halfway house, enhancing the visitor experience. Conveniently located, the driving range further elevates the club’s facilities.
This transformation enhances Royal Norwich’s heritage while establishing a dynamic, welcoming environment for generations to come.
